Children's Festival

We went to the Children's Festival, and man did they have some cool stuff! Isaac has discovered his new love--gymnastics (better known as cool, brightly colored obstacle course). I think I'm going to have to sign him up for classes when he gets old enough. It was almost impossible to drag him away from it. Even with older kids practically running him over--one little boy pushed him down--he didn't want to quit. One little girl (she was about 2-3 years old) said about Isaac, "Will someone get this baby out of my way?!? He is annoying me!" Isaac didn't mind; he was perfectly happy going at his own pace through this cool course.
This was his favorite piece.

He enjoyed watching the other kids go through too (although they went way too fast for him).

Isaac's first somersault!
"Hey...what just happened?"

A bit dazed and confused.

Strange man on stilts with an air gun.

This was the bewildered face we got when he saw...

these guys! He was a bit too stunned to give Iron Man a high five. Daddy had to help.

They had a petting zoo.

This was what happened when the sheep "baa"ed him. In his defense, it was pretty loud.

His favorite were the lambs...nice and soft, but not so loud.

Lots of teeth

With our funny food pictures, we also got pictures of all the teeth. As you can see, he now has 14 teeth--8 on the bottom and 6 on the top! The next 2 are coming in on the top (you can see a little bit of white bump peaking through in the gap). I've heard that this is a lot for his age. He likes to use them too. When we give him bites of food, we have to pull our fingers back quickly so he doesn't bite them by accident. One of the women at the Y gave him a bite of something to eat. She didn't know to get her fingers out of the way, and man, did she yelp. I guess we need a sign, "Warning, DO NOT feed the child!"

New messy foods

Is there a rule that kids have to like the messiest foods? Almost all of Isaac's favorites are stains waiting to happen. Most of his favorite foods involve tomato sauce (so we have ruined quite a few outfits). Here are two of his new favorites...peanut butter and fruit smoothie. The smoothie would be okay if it weren't for the blueberries.

New skills

The munchkin is getting better with the physical skills. He's had another skill "growth spurt." In addition to his solo stair climbing activity, he's also done several new things this week. He got out of a large rocking arm chair all by himself (and very smoothly I might add). He got down off of our bed by himself (not so smoothly). For those who don't know, our bed is very high--it comes up to my waist, so this is quite an accomplishment (even if he did loose his balance and fall on his tush). He's been practicing that one for a while. He's been very cute with it...he knows to turn around and throw his legs over, but since it's so high, he gets a death grip on the sheets and slowly lowers himself down. The first couple times he did it (with me sitting right beside him to help him if he needed) he did his little nervous laugh. Then he figured out to lower himself until he was standing on the bed rail. I think the problem now is he's not sure how to get down off of that. He also walked all the way out of the YMCA to the car. He's starting to like exploring more new places on foot. That makes for interesting trips to the store while he pulls everything off the racks. He and I went shopping for some summer clothes for him last week, and he ran around the clothes racks playing hide and seek and laughing like crazy. He had the best time.

Another random picture. He's practicing to be Joseph in the Christmas play when he gets old enough.

Stair climbing

Isaac loves climbing stairs. Unfortunately, he often thinks it's a game. He's getting pretty quiet and sneaky with the walking, and if you aren't paying attention, he'll sneak up the stairs on you. When Paul or I find him climbing the stairs he just laughs like it's great fun. He has made it up to the top on his own a few times (he's sneaked past Mommy and Daddy on different occasions). And he's fast too. Often when we hear him, by the time we get there, he's almost at the top. Thank goodness at least he's good at it.
Climb a bit, then stop and pose.

Climb some more...

then turn around and make sure Mommy is still back there.

First "black" eye

Well, as you can see, we got a nice boo boo. My little Angel is having a bit of a devilish streak. He'll act all sweet and perfect until you tell him no and then...look out! So this occurred as we were playing around on the bed. Paul had just gotten home and Isaac was a bit grumpy. He started throwing himself around on the bed. He hit his head on Daddy a couple of times and fussed because it didn't feel too good. But apparently that wasn't enough to stop him from throwing himself around. A few seconds later, he got exasperated and threw his head down on my knee. Oh boy, did he cry at that one! This mark appeared almost instantly. I was really worried that it was going to turn into a big bruise (in which case I was going to have shirts printed saying, "No, I do not hit my kid!"). Luckily, it didn't get any darker than this and it disappeared in a day or two.

Same ole, same ole

Well, I'm really sorry I haven't posted more on here recently, but in all honesty, it's been too crazy. I hardly have any new pictures because Isaac moves around too much to get any. (He's just a blur in most of the ones I have taken recently :-). Every time he does something cute, by the time I find the camera, he has moved on to the next thing. So I figured I would at least give everyone an update. Isaac is walking all over the place now--he'll be running in no time (Lord, help us!). I guess he finally got up the confidence and man can he go! He went through this phase where he would walk on his hands and feet--quite entertaining! Unfortunately, I think he might already be done with that, and I never did catch it on camera. He loves playing outside. We can't wait for the weather to get consistently nice so we can play out there every day. He now has at least 12 teeth (4 new honkin premolars). There might be more back there, but he's not big on letting us look. Life has settled into a fairly predictable routine (for which, I am very grateful!) Of course, with that predictability comes boring blogger updates! Here is one of the few good pictures I have recently (and yes, I know he needs a haircut).
