Getting so big...

The boy is standing like a champ. He pulls up on everything and can walk around a room by moving from one piece of furniture to the next.

He also likes banging on and kissing mirrors and windows.

Playing with Kaylee

OK, for those of you who know Kaylee, you know how grouchy, ornery, and mean she can be. Since Isaac was born, she hasn't had a thing to do with him; she has stayed as far from him as possible. If he crawls anywhere near her, she takes off. She has not shown the least bit of interest in him. Which means I can draw only one conclusion from this moment...it must be invasion of the dog body snatchers.

I give up

So as hard as I try, it's almost impossible to keep the baby from chewing on the dog toys. If the dogs leave them laying around, it's just about guaranteed that Isaac is going to find them. It seems that rawhides aren't just enjoyable to dogs; babies seem to like them too. (I'm not sure why; the thought of it makes me gag.)

Crossed feet

Do other babies do this? Isaac loves to cross his legs at the ankles. He'll do it sitting in a seat, he'll do it when he's lying on his changing table. Is this common or is it just my little poser?

Maymont

Maymont is a park in Richmond, Va that belonged to a rich couple in the early 1900's. Apparently they had no kids, so they left their estate to the city to be used as a park. They have all kinds of animals and some beautiful gardens. This was Isaac's first visit, and it was a little colder than we thought it would be, so we had to use some creative outfitting. Don't you like the outfit? (Thank you Quinlin for loaning us a jacket).

Our first experience with goats. Isaac wasn't quite sure what to make of them.

Cousin Nolan is an excellent entertainer. He's great at making Isaac laugh!

You aren't supposed to pick the flowers. Apparently Isaac didn't read the sign.

Thanksgiving

So, our first Thanksgiving went very well. Isaac ate turkey, sweet potatoes, and Kicks cereal. He's had chicken before, but this was our first experience with turkey. He rather liked it.

He's doing well for an only child; he shared his Kicks with cousin Nolan.

Playing with cousin Sylvie. It's nice having someone your own size when there are so many big people around!

Our New Game

So my boy has finally discovered the joys of pulling the toilet paper off the roll. I hear that this is a rite of passage and that this joyous discovery was inevitable. I just thought I might have more time before he learned this trick. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Stats

Well, we've hit 10 months...I can't believe it. Isaac will be a year old in less than 2 months. Where does it go??? He has 8 teeth (the same 8 he's had for several months), and boy does he like using them! We're working on 2 more I think; he's been drooling on everything again. He is feeding himself cheerios, peas, pear, anything soft enough that he can pick up and put in his mouth; but he likes the cheerios best--I think it's the crunch he really likes. He is crawling around everywhere and pulling up on anything he can get his hands on (even the things that won't support him). He takes some steps while holding onto things. He's crazy destructive--his favorite game is pulling up on coffee tables, night stands, etc. and throwing everything off. He has learned to clap and wave. Tonight he gave Daddy some really good high fives and mimicked us when when put our arms in the air.

Florida Museum of Natural History

Isaac enjoyed walking around and looking at things. He found the life size models of American Indians intriguing and somewhat confusing. (I think he was waiting for them to move.)

He was enthralled by the overhead speakers.

Being eaten by the giant shark!

Relaxing at lunch.
